About The Swinging Pendulum

Pendulums were widely utilized in ancient history to study the oscillatory response of the system and further understand the universe. A pendulum is comprised of an object suspended from a pivot point. Pendulums were used in various ways, some of them are the following:

  •   Gravimeter: to take measurements of the gravity.

  • Seismometer: to measure seismic waves in the earth.

  •   Pendulum Clock: To measure the elapsed time.

The project explores and models the oscillatory motion of a swinging pendulum, as engineers and scientists are frequently faced with problems concerning the periodic motion of free bodies. This will require the position and the velocity of the body, otherwise known as the functions of time. Furthermore, these functions are the solutions of second-order non-linear differential equations that are based on Newton's law of motion. Such equations are difficult to solve analytically.
